President Donald Trump spent part of Saturday sharing posts on Truth Social that question the results of Tuesday's midterm elections, in which Republicans lost control of both the House and the Senate, [Democracy Docket reported](https://www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/trump-promotes-posts-questioning-midterm-results/?ref=workersrights.news).

On election night, Trump told the New York Times he was "absolutely willing" to accept the results, according to Democracy Docket, which links the Times interview.

## What the posts claim

One post Trump shared argued that Democratic gains were too even across the country to be real and called for "paper ballot hand counts, poll-book check-ins against votes counted, and voter files showing who actually turned out." Democracy Docket reported that the post left out races that didn't fit its pattern. Another post looked at Democrat James Talarico's win over Republican Ken Paxton in the Texas Senate race and asked: "Honest question. Does anyone believe this at all?"

Claim check: none of the posts offered evidence of irregularities, Democracy Docket reported. It found Democratic vote totals rose in red, blue and purple states alike, driven by enthusiasm among Democratic voters and by swing voters.

## Boebert's campaign makes a similar claim

In Colorado, Rep. Lauren Boebert's campaign said Thursday it is "investigating some very unusual voting patterns" as she trails Democrat Eileen Laubacher, a retired Navy admiral, [Democracy Docket reported](https://www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/boebert-campaign-investigating-voting-as-she-trails-her-democratic-challenger/?ref=workersrights.news). The statement came from campaign attorney Scott Gessler, Colorado's former Republican secretary of state, and gave no details about what the patterns were.

Laubacher led by more than 3,000 votes, or 0.81% of ballots cast, as of Friday morning, according to New York Times figures cited by Democracy Docket. Colorado law requires a recount only when the margin is within 0.5%.

## Why it matters

States are still counting and certifying results in close races. This fall, Trump's Justice Department went to court to pull ballots in California and Washington and lost: it [dropped its California suit](https://www.workersrights.news/doj-drops-california-ballot-lawsuit-20000-ballots-three-courts/) after three courts said no, and a federal judge [barred it from pressuring Washington's vote counters](https://www.workersrights.news/judge-bars-trump-doj-washington-set-aside-ballots-noncitizen-list/).

What to watch: whether the reposts turn into formal challenges, and whether the Justice Department acts on them.
